Recording the My Abstract Life Audiobook

My_Abstract_Life_by_Gord_McLeod_cover.png

Tonight I recorded the My Abstract Life audiobook. It's going to take a fair bit of editing to get it cleaned up and releasable, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. There are a lot of starts and stops that have to be edited out, not to mention false starts, but it was an interesting experience.

Once I have it done, I'll be releasing it and the new version of the eBook as well. I want to do a simultaneous release because I'll be including a link to the audiobook in the eBook, so bear with me while I get all this worked out. It's essentially a podcast I'm creating, now that I think of it, and that's a whole new world for me, at least on the creation side.

My Abstract Life eBook

Today should be the last day that My Abstract Life is enrolled in the KDP Select program. After this, I should be able to release it for free here on the site. I'm planning a new version of the eBook for this release, I'm really looking forward to getting it out to you all!

Facades of Lost Time

I've made some excellent headway on a new story, which unfortunately is for a destination that requires me not to post here. Just be aware I have new stuff on the way. I'll also be recording my first audiobook shortly. It's turning out to be a fun week!

Cleanliness - The Hidden Danger

With a headline like that, you'd be forgiven for raising an eyebrow, but don't worry, I'm not talking about personal hygiene or anything. No, it's simply that tonight I was looking for one of my old projects to work on, and got myself busy organizing my Scrivener project files. By the time I was through with that, I was exhausted and now it's time for bed.

Paperman

This is a beautiful example of charming storytelling without the use of dialogue. It's a Disney short film, and it feels like the Disney studios have taken some inspiration from Pixar's inherent charm; this really has a lot of the feel of Pixar about it. It's a wonderful little video that I highly recommend.

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman." Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute.
