Robert J. Sawyer Workshop

Today I had an awesome experience at Robert J. Sawyer's ​"A Thematic Approach to Science Fiction" workshop. I'm still processing everything I took in, so the next update to The Price of Entanglement is tomorrow.

I'd fully intended to take pictures and post a bunch of stuff about this, but it was such a good experience that I was sucked in and thinking the whole time, which didn't leave me any time for stray thoughts like snapping pictures.​

If you're into writing at all and you ever get the chance to attend one of his workshops or lectures, do it. Rob's a charismatic and funny speaker​ with a wealth of knowledge to share. I highly recommend it.

​Well, that was an adventure in ebook creation! The software I write in, Scrivener, is usually very good at formatting its output for ebook creation, but it has suddenly changed on me and it took a while to finish as a result. But I did prevail, of course.

As a result of this success, I've got a new draft ebook for you; The Ship of the Unforgotten​ is now available for download.

​In addition, I've made .mobi versions of all four books available for those of you who, like me, have Kindles and prefer to read that way. All of these downloadable versions here on the site are free and will remain that way.

Technical Frustrations

​I've been working on getting an official draft version of The Ship of the Unforgotten ready and have run into a lot of technical problems that I need to get resolved. That sapped my work time today so no story update, I'm afraid.

The good news is that when I do get it done, I'll have it not only as an epub, but also as a Kindle .mobi file. All of a sudden today I had several people ask me about that, and as a big-time Kindle fan myself, I am only too happy to oblige in providing it. Converting from epub to mobi is trivial anyway, assuming you can get the original epub created to begin with!​

I'll have this ironed out by tomorrow, one way or another.​

Like The Ship of the Unforgotten, ​it is a first-draft version and so it's had only very minimal editing over what was originally published here on the site when it was written. It's not off my radar by any means though, and a rewrite is in the plan.
