Audiobook #2 Announcement: An Improbable Journey

After getting some feedback on the matter, it seems the next audio book will be An Improbable Journey. I just finished my first recording of it, and i think it went reasonably well. I'll need some beta-listener feedback on it before I can release it of course. It'll probably be a while before I can just release them unheard. I need to improve before that happens.

Reading it aloud was an interesting experience, and is something that from now on will have to become part of my editing practice. I've made a few small edits to the story as a result of experiencing it differently. These are on the order of missing punctuation and so on, very simple corrections, nothing that impacts the story in a big way. There were several of them though, and it was enough that I'll be updating the eBooks available here and on Amazon, Smashwords and Goodreads sometime in the next day or two to reflect the edits.

In further podcast news, I'm getting close to solving the problem that's preventing the audiobooks from showing up in iTunes. I hope to have that fixed in the next day or two as well. Fingers crossed!

My Abstract Life Free eBooks Available

Sorry this took so long, everyone! Now that My Abstract Life is both out of the KDP Select program and through my extended I'm-still-learning audiobook recording phase, I've got the new version ready as an ePub and as a .mobi file for Kindle enthusiasts. You can download it free now right here, and I'll have it up on Smashwords and Goodreads soon too.

    Almost There...

I spent today working on one of the secret projects, and also did my final re-recording of My Abstract Life. I'm sure there's more I could do to make it better, but I'm at risk right now of entering perpetual fixing mode. It's vastly improved over my first efforts, so I'm going to put it out there tomorrow. I'll be grateful for any and all feedback anyone has for me, and I'll put that feedback to good use for future episodes.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback I'd like to get is this: Which story would you be most interested in hearing next?

    Recording Sessions

I did another recording session tonight, and I'm starting to learn some of the tricks people use to not completely destroy their voices. (Which is sad. This is a short story; my longest take to date is not even 15 minutes.)

I'll work on editing it some tonight, and then finish it up tomorrow, then get it out to some beta-listeners for feedback. It is thanks to them that I've kept on doing new recordings. I've gotten some fantastic feedback that has saved me from releasing rushed, poor quality audio.

    The Audiobook Adventure Continues

I have SO much respect for people who record entire novels.

The My Abstract Life audiobook is coming along well, by which I mean I have recorded it several times now, and will probably do at least one more take. It's difficult to maintain a consistent tone over even something as short as a short story. Makes me a little nervous about the prospects of doing something longer, like The Ship of the Unforgotten!

It's fun though, and gives me a welcome chance to de-rust my audio editing skills that have gone unused for years.
